When I heard that Shea Moisture Curl Stretch Pudding can elongate and define curls while minimizing shrinkage, I thought it was an excellent marketing strategy. How can a product stretch 4c curls? While I love the unique texture and volume of my 4C hair, shrinkage and lack of definition can be frustrating.

Let me explain. I have thick, coarse 4c hair that shrinks a lot. I cut it down for several years because I didn’t know what to do with it. I was tired of spending five hours every month in a salon to get braids. But when I was ready to grow my hair again, I bought several wigs, including this Wave Lace Front Wigs Human Hair, to avoid going to the salon. Growing hair with minimal heat worked miracles. Within two years, my hair was longer and healthier than the hair I had in ten years.

As a natural girl, I now needed ways to slay in my natural hair. That’s how I learnt to do twists outs and braids out. So, when I heard of  Shea Moisture Curl Stretch Pudding, I rushed to YouTube to check out reviews, and after several videos, I was convinced it could work for me, too. So far, I have used it four times and am impressed.

Shea Moisture Red Palm Oil and Cocoa Butter Collection

This Shea Moisture Red Palm Oil collection includes five products: detangling Shampoo,  leave-in or rinse-out conditioner, curl Stretch Pudding, reshaping Shine Butter, and styling Gelee. So far, the only products I’m yet to try are reshaping Shine Butter and styling Gelee.

Who is Shea Moisture Red Palm Oil & Cocoa Butter Curl Stretch Pudding for?

Shea Moisture’s Curl Stretch Pudding is especially great for 3A to 4C hair types, helping to combat shrinkage and enhance natural curl patterns. If you’re looking to fight frizz, define curls, and add moisture to your hair, Shea Moisture’s Red Palm Oil & Cocoa Butter Curl Stretch Pudding is an excellent choice.

Does Shea Moisture Curl Stretch Pudding Help with Shrinkage?

Shea moisture curl stretch is designed to help reduce natural shrinkage and temporarily reveal a longer afro or curly coily. As I mentioned above, I have coarse 4c hair that shrinks significantly. However, after using this product, my twists out and braids look more elongated. Usually, my twists hang at the back of my neck, but after using the product, they hang at my shoulders.

How to Use Shea Moisture Curl Stretch Pudding

You may skip some of these steps if you have already washed your hair. However, I prefer to do twist-outs on wet hair. Here is how I do it;

  1. Start by detangling your hair, just the usual way you do before washing.
  2. Wash your hair using the Shea Moisture detangling Shampoo, and once clean, detangle to remove any tangles that will be created by shampooing.
  3. Apply a generous amount of leave-in or rinse-out conditioner and detangle for the last time.
  4. Section the hair according to your desired style and apply a generous amount of Shea Moisture Curl Stretch Pudding to each section from roots to ends, then style.

Final Thought

Shea Moisture Curl Stretch Pudding is a solid choice if you have 3a to 4c hair that requires moisture, definition, and a boost for braid-outs.  While it might not be a miracle worker for extreme curl elongation, it delivers on its core promises of hydration and frizz control.  If you’re looking for a new curl styler that prioritizes moisture and definition, this pudding is definitely worth a try!
